GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Account Number:
         The seven-digit account identifier assinged by the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Acreage:
         The land area of the account in acres or square feet. (There are 43,560 square feet in an acre.)

Assessment:
         The combined value the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation has placed on the account
         for both land and improvements. Property taxes are based on every $100 of this figure. If you feel this
         figure is incorrect, contact the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation to request
         a meeting with the Assessor for your taxing district.

Block:
         Properties that have been platted and subdivided may have a block number as part of the legal description.

Care of:
         The name to which the owner has requested tax bills be mailed. In order to change this, the homeowner
         must submit the change, in writing, to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation,
         14735 Main Street Room 356B, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.

Condo: Plat, Phase, Bldg, Unit:
         If the property is a condominium the description may appear here.

Data As Of:
         The actual date the information was obtained from our system.

District:
         The two-digit assessment disctrict identifier assigned by the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Front Foot:
         A charge by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission to amortize the cost of installation of sewer
         and water pipes adjacent to the property. For more information call 301-206-8032.

Full Year:
         Bill for assessment of structures and/or land for a full fiscal year taxing period, July - June.

Homeowner's Tax Credit:
         A credit available to homeowners of all ages who qualify based on income. Contact the
         Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation for more information, @ 410-767-4433 or 1-800-944-7403.

Imps:
         The value the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation has placed on the account for the structure(s) only.

Land:
         The value the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation has placed on the account for land only.

Latest Deed:
         The date the most current deed was recorded in the land records office of the clerk of the court.

Liber Folio:
         The book and page used to identify the owner's deed in the land records office of the clerk of the court.

Liens:
         A lien placed against the property for the failure to pay the county or municipality for services rendered;
         delinquent personal property taxes; bad check fee; tax sale advertising fee, etc.

Lot:
         Properties that have been platted and subdivied may have a lot number as part of the legal description.

Mailing Address:
         The address to which the owner has requested tax bills be mailed. In order to change this, the homeowner
         must submit the change, in writing, to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation,
         14735 Main Street Room 356B, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.

Mortgage:
         If a mortgage company has requested tax information on the account, via magnetic tape, their name will
         appear in this space, if not, "UNKNOWN" will appear. This does not in any way suggest that if "UNKNOWN"
         appears there is no mortgage on the property, nor does it imply emphatically that the mortgage company
         name that appears is the current mortgage holder.

Occupancy:
         This indicates whether the property is the owner's principal residence. Properties with Non-Principal
         Residence are not eligible for the Homestead Tax Credit or the Homeowner's Tax Credit. In order to
         change this, the homeowner must submit the change, in writing, to the Maryland Department of
         Assessments and Taxation, 14735 Main Street Room 356B, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772

Other Credits:
         A cumulative total of the following credits found on the tax bill: Scenic Easement, Revitilization
         Credit, and Homestead Tax Credit.

Other Taxes/Fees:
         A cumulative total of the following taxes and fees found on the tax bill: State Tax, Municipal
         Tax, Maryland National Park and Planning Commission Fee, Storm/Water Chesapeake Bay Water
         Quality Tax, Washington Suburban Transit Commission Fee, Trash & Garbage Chare, Recycling
         Charge, Solid Waste Service Charge, Bulk Trash Charge.

Owner:
         The name of the owner as it appears on the last recorded deed. Only the first line of the owner name may
         be shown. Common abbreviations: ET AL means "and others"; ET UX means "and spouse"; /WF means "and wife".

Payment Received:
         If the account is paid, the date of the last payment, the interest/penalty paid, and the total amount paid will appear.

Property Address:
         The physical address of the property as assigned by the local government, including the street location, city, and zip code.

Property Description:
         The description of the property as it appears in the deed. Some accounts may have other location information as well.

Refund Amount:
         If the account has been reduced, due to a credit or abatement after the account has been paid, and a
         refund will be or has been issued, the amount of the refund will appear.

Refund Date:
         If the account has been reduced, due to a credit or abatement after the account has been paid, and a
         refund has been issued, the date of issuance will appear.

Section:
         Properties that have been platted and subdivided may have a section code as part of the legal description.

Special Area:
         A charge for installation of streets, streetlights or sidewalks within the subdivision.

Subname:
         Properties that have been platted and subdivided may have a subdivision name.

Total:
         The net amount of the tax bill.

1/4 Year Improvement:
         Bill for assessment of structure(s) for a partial fiscal year taxing period, April - June.

1/2 Year Improvement:
         Bill for assessment of structure(s) for a partial fiscal year taxing period, January - June.

3/4 Year Improvement:
         Bill for assessment of structure(s) for a partial fiscal year taxing period, October - June.
